NOW ENROLLING FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR

Where are you located?

We have been actively searching for our school space since January 2024. It has proven to be an endeavor with difficulties we never anticipated. That said, we are opening in a temporary location for our 2024 1st Semester (August-December). With this temporary space, enrollment will be very limited, and as of August 5th, 2024 we are nearing capacity. Our new address is 21207 Hufsmith-Kohrville Road Suite B Tomball, TX 77375. We are located within The Uplift Youth Sports Performance building.

What ages do you accept?

Monday-Thursday/Friday Learners: For Year 1 (which launches August 2024), we will be accepting learners that are age 4 (by/on August 5th) to age 12. We will add an age group each year until we reach ages 4-18. E.g, the 2025-2026 school year will offer enrollment to learners who are 4-13. The 2026-2027 school year will offer enrollment to learners 4-14.

Friday Only Friends: We will offer enrollment to Friday Only Friends aged 4-16

Are you part-time or full-time?

We will have a 4 day “educational week” Monday-Thursday. Friday’s will be an optional enrichment + skills day, with rotating activities and themes each month. We will also be welcoming our homeschooled friends to join us on Fridays for a half or full day. Additionally, our school will operate in “Sprints”, which range between 3-6 weeks long. There will be a total of 7 Sprints during the school year (read more on Page 3 & 4). At the conclusion of each Sprint, Apogee Tomball will be closed the following week. This allows our learners time to decompress from school, and offers our families more time together.

Will you have grade levels?

We favor mixed age learning groups over divisive grade levels. For year 1, our students will be separated into two classrooms: ages 4-7, and 8-12. There are many studies that show mixed-age learning groups are beneficial for academic growth and social emotional skill development.

What does your school day look like?

We are still building out our daily schedule, and to be honest, it will likely be flexible and fluctuating our first year as we determine what works best for our young learners, but our days will include the following blocks (some blocks will happen just a few days a week, but majority will be daily)

Morning/Afternoon Huddles & Socratic Discussion

Core Academics

Movement Breaks + Physical Fitness

Hands-On Group Project/Individual Discovery + Development

Long Lunch & Longer Recess

Free Read/Creativity Connection/Free Play

STEM

Creative Arts Exploration

In our 4-7 year old classroom (Ignite Studio), our focus is to ignite their love of learning and make it a fun place to be. Although there will be more of a loose structure in this studio as they are building the foundational reading, writing and math skills in authentic ways, there’s also movement, choice, hands-on learning and play incorporated into every part of the day.

In our 8-12 classroom (Discover Studio) they’ve now mastered the foundational reading, writing and math skills that allow them more freedom to be self-led in their learning and discover their passions and strengths. They will focus on setting goals and managing their time, so they can learn how to optimize each day.

Core Academics (reading, writing, grammar and math) will be accomplished via a mixture of hands-on learning and technology. Recess and physical fitness will always be outside. Our discovery + develop block will offer young learners the opportunity to find their passions and interests, and then give them time to develop the skills encompassing their newly discovered passion.

Will you teach any life skills?

Absolutely. We want our young learners prepared for life after school, something that we feel is majorly lacking in the public education space. The life skills we will introduce include, but are not limited to: financial literacy, communication, growth mindset, how to change a tire, how to fail and stand back up, etc. During the school year, our learners will create a business/product that will end with a Business Fair/Market hosted by them. Seriously - them. They will be in charge of advertising, garnering community support, set up, break down, payment/transactions, and more! The business fair will provide them the opportunity to learn about creativity, research and product development, critical thinking/problem solving, failure, work ethic, finances, successful products (or knowing when to pivot) and so much more!

What makes you different?

Where do we start? Our biggest differentiator from other schools is the fact that our learners are in the driver's seat of their education. We give them the tools, resources and time to accomplish the goals they want to achieve. We provide them with coaches who support their goals, encourage them to stay on track and are compassionate during hard moments. They are given the freedom and autonomy to explore the interests they are passionate about. We will offer many different workplace settings including desks (for those who enjoy solitude), tables & chairs, bean bag chairs, rugs & pillows, reading nooks, etc. Our recess will be a minimum of one hour long, with additional movement/mind breaks and an entire block for physical fitness. Our Sprints will have different themes, with incredible learning opportunities and (fun) for the kids. (See next section for more information). At the conclusion of each Sprint, our learners get to take a break and stay home the following week to decompress. We will work hard to encourage communication among peers to help minimize altercations. We know that children are much more capable than most people believe. We are creating a warm environment: a space where children are excited to attend each day.

Why Project-Based Learning?

Project Based Learning engages students in learning that is deep and long-lasting, and inspires for them a love of learning and personal connection to their academic experience. It requires critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and various forms of communication. To answer a driving question and create high-quality work, learners need to do much more than remember information. They need to use higher-order thinking skills and learn to work as a team. Now more than ever, we need young people who are ready, willing, and able to tackle the challenges of their lives and the world they will inherit - and nothing prepares them better than Project Based Learning.

What is a Sprint?

Our school year will begin in August and end in May, and during that time there will be seven different Sprints, each Sprint being 4 to 6 weeks long. Each Sprint will have a different theme that our group Project Based Learning will be based around. The very last day of each Sprint, our learners will host a Showcase, where they will have the opportunity to teach their family about what they learned, and show off their creation from that Sprint.

Sprint Example

Our first Sprint is about living by a code, similar to the Knights in the Middle Ages. It will be a six week long Sprint, where they will learn about a code of ethics, what it means to live by your code, create our class/school code, create our school mascot, create medieval artifacts, and more! During week 5 they will host a ‘Medieval Games’ ceremony, and will participate in the games using the shields, swords & catapults they created in the former weeks, plus additional tools/warfare used in the medieval days. The games will end with an awards ceremony and a royal feast among students and families, with middle-age appropriate food made and brought by our learners. During week 6, learners will explore the concept of bartering during the Renaissance period by designing and crafting items to trade at a simulated Renaissance Fair, fostering creativity, historical understanding, and entrepreneurial skills. The fair will end with a Sprint Showcase. I don’t know about you, but I definitely did not do this in public school when I was there!

My child has ADHD/Dyslexia/Dysgraphia - can they attend your school and how can you help them?

Your child can absolutely attend our school, the entire reason we are opening Apogee Tomball is for our 10 year old daughter with ADHD. We believe that our environment and the way our school day runs will naturally help children with ADHD, but we know we will need to take extra measures to help our friends with learning disabilities. We are currently working with a Certified EC-12 Special Education educator who has been teaching us about the intricacies of different learning disabilities, and helping us to develop a plan of action (likely a few different plans of action) so we can help your child. She has been trained and has experience with Specially Designed Instruction, Reading by Design and Dyslexia Intervention, so we are very excited to have her aboard so we can help each learner as best we can.

What is your tuition rate?

Our Year 1 tuition will be as follows:

Monday-Thursday |  $8,000 Annually

Monday-Friday | $9,000 Annually

Friday Only (Homeschooler Half Day) | $1,500 Annually

Friday Only (Homeschooler Full Day) | $2,000 Annually

You will be able to break up your payments, up to 10 months. We will offer a 10% discount for Military, LEO and First Responders, in addition to sibling discounts. Our foundational families (those who enroll for the 2024-2025 school year) will have a lifetime, locked in, tuition rate.

We will also be providing a limited number of scholarships through the Apogee Strong Foundation. If you are a small business owner, there are ways you can assist our school in providing scholarships without spending any money out of pocket. Please ask us how you can help.

I'm an interested parent, will I be able to be involved?

Absolutely. We believe you are your child's primary source of education, so we are looking for fully engaged parents, or parents that want to work towards being fully engaged. We will have volunteer opportunities during our school week. Everything from being an Aide, reading to our learners, assisting with special events, Sprint Showcases, teaching a specialty niche (that you’re already skilled in), and more! We will also have opportunities at our Family Fun Nights, Business Fair, Field Trips, Kid-Centered Events and Parent Meet Ups. In addition, we will always have an open door policy when it comes to discussing your child's education.

How do I learn more?

Click on the Contact Us form at the top of this page, fill it out and we will reach out to you. We'd love for you to attend any of our parent meet ups or family fun events (even if your kiddos are not of age yet!) to meet us and learn more about our mission.

We are so excited to be bringing a new kind of educational center to Tomball, and we hope you will join us for the journey.
